Science and the Face of God: The Shroud of Turin
Join us for an insightful lecture presented by Fr. Robert J. Spitzer, S.J., Ph.D., on January 15, 2025, at 6:30 PM in the Milam Auditorium at Oregon State Unviersity. Fr. Spitzer, President of the Magis Center, will discuss the Shroud of Turin, a linen burial cloth believed to have been used to cover Jesus’ body after the crucifixion.
Fr. Spitzer has been instrumental in creating the largest science-based “faith and reason” institute in the U.S. and will explore the fascinating science behind the Shroud, offering a deep perspective on its historical and religious significance.
Because this Newman Lecture is being presented at Oregon State University, a carpool will be organized. If interested, please fill out this form!
We are honored to have Fr. Spitzer as our Winter term lecturer. The OSU Newman Lecture Series is free of cost with no registration required and open to all. Please join us! If you can not make it, the presentation will be recorded and uploaded to the OSU Newman Youtube Channel. They will also broadcast it over zoom in real time.
